While there are no formal prerequisite subjects for this course, students are expected to have studied the following subjects in high school to succeed in this course: Mathematics Advanced, Chemistry, Biology. English competency is essential as part of the admission criteria. Other assumed knowledge depends on majors or units of study chosen.

Undergrdauate School-leaver Pathway

  • Admission is available for high school leavers who have achieved exceptional results.

Academic Requirements

  • An ATAR of 99.95 (or equivalent) is required for standard entry.
  • Selection rank of 99.95 (ATAR + eligible adjustment factors) is a guide only.
  • Admission is subject to meeting all essential admission criteria (including prerequisites).

Adjustment Factors

  • Entry schemes and pathways may provide adjustment factors that can increase a student’s selection rank.
  • These include equity and access schemes such as:
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants: minimum ATAR 90.
    • Regional and Remote Entry Scheme or MySydney applicants: minimum ATAR 99.5.

The entry pathway you qualify for will depend on your personal circumstances. Some schemes allow admission with an ATAR lower than the usual cut-off, while others give you the chance to submit extra information — for example, a creative portfolio or evidence showing how your studies were affected.

You can explore options such as:

  • Equity schemes
  • Merit-based schemes
  • Indigenous pathways
  • Non-school pathways
  • Creative skills entry
  • Other pathways
  • FAQs

Note: Some pathways include adjustment factors, which can raise your selection rank without changing your ATAR. Others may allow you to enter with a reduced ATAR requirement.

    1. Written assessment
    2. Panel discussion
