La Trobe University undergraduate medicine entry requirements apply to a rural biomedical science pathway, not direct admission to a La Trobe medical degree. Students complete the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Medical) before progressing to the University of Melbourne Doctor of Medicine (Rural Pathway), subject to conditions.
1. Academic requirements and prerequisite subjects
The published minimum unadjusted ATAR is 80.00. This is an eligibility requirement, not a guaranteed offer score. Applicants must also satisfy rural eligibility and the interview requirements.
The VCE prerequisite is Units 3 and 4 English, with a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in English other than EAL. Confirm interstate or overseas equivalents directly with La Trobe.
Applicants with previous tertiary study should check their category-specific academic assessment rules and transcript requirements. Do not assume that the school-leaver ATAR calculation applies unchanged to a university application.
2. Rural eligibility and application evidence
The pathway is designed for rural and regional applicants who intend to practise in those communities. The university requires a principal-home residence history of at least five consecutive or ten cumulative years in areas classified MMM2–MMM7 under the applicable Modified Monash Model.
Submit the Rurality Form and the required supporting evidence as well as your course application. Rural background is an eligibility condition, not simply an optional ATAR bonus. La Trobe considers rurality tiers and connectedness when assessing applicants.
3. Online MMI format and assessed qualities
Shortlisted applicants attend an online Multiple Mini Interview. The published course criteria describe situational questions covering advocacy, collaboration, critical thinking, empathy, ethical reasoning, motivation and regional identification, alongside adequate communication skills.
La Trobe's published final ranking uses 30% academic selection rank and 70% MMI ranking, including rural connectedness. These weightings concern admission to the bachelor pathway; they are not the later MD progression requirement.
A current public station count, reading time and response time have not been verified. Use your invitation for the confirmed platform, format and appointment instructions rather than assuming a generic MMI timetable.

Progression to the University of Melbourne MD
The published pathway requires completion of Biomedical Science (Medical) with a weighted average mark of at least 70 and a continued commitment to regional living. The MD Rural Pathway is delivered by the University of Melbourne in Shepparton.
La Trobe describes the linked MD place as bonded. Read the offer and current Bonded Medical Program obligations before accepting; this involves a return-of-service commitment. The bachelor itself does not qualify you to practise medicine.
Access schemes and First Nations entry
Eligible applicants may receive equity adjustments during academic ranking. Biomedical Science (Medical) has a course-specific maximum of 10 SEAS aggregate adjustment points, so the university's general maximum should not be applied automatically.
A First Nations Australian Entry stream is listed separately. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants should ask La Trobe to confirm the evidence and selection requirements applying to that stream.

Undergraduate Dentistry at La Trobe University
La Trobe University undergraduate dentistry entry requirements are primarily academic for standard admission. The Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) is a five-year undergraduate degree in Bendigo, with clinical experience across regional Victoria.
1. Academic selection and English prerequisite
Year 12 applicants are assessed using their academic selection rank. Previous offer profiles are historical results, not guaranteed cut-offs for 2027. Standard, Regional Entry and First Nations Australian Entry should be checked separately.
The current published VCE prerequisite is Units 3 and 4 English:
- A study score of at least 30 in English (EAL); or
- A study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL.
Biology and Chemistry are not listed as compulsory prerequisites in the current admissions information checked. Eligible VCE results of 30 in Biology or Chemistry can provide two aggregate adjustment points per subject, up to four in total. These are subject adjustments, not extra raw ATAR points.
Applicants relying on tertiary results must meet the relevant academic-record and English-equivalence requirements. There is no verified universal GPA threshold to publish for all applicants.
UCAT ANZ and dental interview requirements
Standard dentistry selection does not require UCAT ANZ or a routine interview. Medicine pathway MMI instructions should not be applied to the dentistry degree.

Regional Entry and access schemes
The Regional Entry stream requires a principal home address in an eligible RA2–RA5 area under the specified Australian Statistical Geographic Standard remoteness classification. This is a different classification from the medicine pathway's MMM rural residence rules.
Regional and equity adjustments depend on your entry stream and circumstances. La Trobe's standard dentistry stream has a specific maximum SEAS aggregate adjustment of 10 points. Do not apply the general 20-point maximum to every dentistry application.
First Nations Australian Entry offers a separate route for eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. Aspire also lists dentistry among capped, competitive courses; an Aspire application does not guarantee your preferred course or remove its entry conditions.
International applicants: dentistry
International applicants need an accepted secondary or tertiary qualification, subject equivalence and the course's English language standard. La Trobe's published international dentistry guidance lists IELTS Academic 7.0 overall, with no band below 7.0, or an accepted equivalent.
Confirm the 2027 qualification assessment, fees and application route with the university. Domestic Regional Entry adjustments should not be assumed to apply to an international place.
Oral health is a separate professional qualification
La Trobe also offers Oral Health Science, which prepares students for oral health therapy work. It is a different qualification from Dental Science and should not be described as a guaranteed transfer into dentistry or as a dentist qualification.
