What do the UCAT ANZ 2026 preliminary statistics show?
The 2026 preliminary statistics indicate a modest increase in overall cognitive performance. The mean Total Cognitive Score increased from 1,941 in 2025 to 1,964 in 2026, while the median increased from 1,930 to 1,950.
The increase is important for interpreting a current score, but it is not a dramatic change in the UCAT distribution. The 20-point rise in the median means that a score producing a particular percentile in 2025 may sit slightly lower within the 2026 cohort.

How should you interpret the estimated UCAT ANZ 2026 percentile?
A percentile compares your performance with other candidates; it is not the percentage of questions you answered correctly. For example, a result around the 90th percentile indicates performance at or above approximately 90% of the relevant candidate cohort.
The confirmed 2026 median gives the calculator an important current reference point. However, the complete score-to-percentile distribution is needed before results such as the 80th, 90th, 95th or 99th percentile can be stated with confidence.

What does your UCAT score mean for medical or dental applications?
A strong UCAT ANZ percentile can be important for Medicine and Dentistry applications, but there is no single national score that guarantees an interview. Universities can use UCAT, academic results and applicant categories in different ways.
Interview thresholds can also move between admission cycles because the candidate pool, available places and university selection methods change. A score that produced an interview in one year therefore should not automatically be treated as a future cut-off.
Consider your result in the context of your whole application
- check the current admissions requirements for every university;
- consider your UCAT together with your ATAR or other academic selection rank;
- check whether rural, local, interstate or other applicant categories apply to you;
- do not assume that a national UCAT percentile equals a university interview threshold; and
- apply broadly where you meet the relevant eligibility requirements.
Should you start medical interview preparation after UCAT?
If your result appears reasonably competitive, there is a strong practical reason to begin interview preparation before invitations are released. Interview offers can leave students with a relatively short period in which to prepare while they are also managing school, examinations and university applications.
Effective preparation is not about memorising model responses. It involves developing communication, ethical reasoning, self-reflection and the ability to respond naturally to unfamiliar MMI or panel interview questions.

Early preparation can help you identify weaker areas, practise structured responses and become more comfortable communicating under time pressure. An interview invitation can then become the point at which you intensify your preparation rather than the point at which you begin.

Not yet, except for the confirmed median position. The preliminary 2026 median Total Cognitive Score is 1,950, so that score represents the 50th-percentile anchor. Other percentile positions remain estimates until UCAT ANZ releases the complete 2026 distribution.

The preliminary 2026 median Total Cognitive Score is 1,950. The preliminary section medians are 610 for Verbal Reasoning, 650 for Decision Making and 680 for Quantitative Reasoning.
Is Situational Judgement included in the UCAT total score?
