UQ MD: UQ Rural Clinical School – Darling Downs / South West (all 4 MD years regionally)

Complete the Biomedical Science degree within the minimum 3 years and maintain a GPA ≥ 5.0. Progress to the UQ MD at the Rural Clinical School (Darling Downs/South West) upon meeting requirements (4 years).

• Selection weighting: 25% UCAT + 25% ATAR + 50% MMI with a regional priority tier system.

Academic requirements

Minimum adjusted ATAR 95.00
Prerequisites: English (Units 3–4, C); Mathematics (General/Methods/Specialist, Units 3–4, C).
Recommended: Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

UCAT ANZ
Required. MMI invitations are ranked on the aggregate of the first 4 subtests; tie-breakers: SJT, then Section 1 (Verbal Reasoning)

Interview (MMI)
Structured online MMI with 8 stations (10 minutes each) assessing communication, empathy, integrity, adaptability, and other areas relevant to a career in medicine. 

Adjustment schemes
Up to 5 adjustment points (e.g. Subject Incentive; Rural Access).

First Nations applicants
Alternative pathway (heritage evidence, personal statement, resume, and a semi-structured interview) prior to MMI.

Quota-limited (no fixed cap published).

Recent cohort sizes: 2023: 22 students; 2024: 16 students; 2025: 27 students.
