The practical workshop component of this program will be delivered in two parts: 

Workshop Date:  Wednesday 10th December 2025

PART 1 - NHBHS UCAT Workshop - you will attend this workshop as a group on a designated date at the school. The National Institute of Education trainers will conduct the workshop for you. This will be a full-day program which will start at 11.30 am and we should conclude by about 6.30 pm (Please allow for a little extra time just in case). During the course of the day, you will become more familiar with the UCAT test and will learn about how it is used by various universities for admission into medical courses. Your trainers will go through fundamental strategies and techniques for all of the 4 sections of the UCAT. You will also sit a full UCAT mock test.

PART 2 - UCAT Workshop Live-Online follow-up session (11^th February 2026, 7 pm – 9 pm AEST)

This session is run for all NIE students who have sat through the UCAT workshop. During this session, we will:

• Hold further discussion and answer any questions about UCAT preparation.
• We will go through the application process to various universities across Australia that offer undergraduate medical and dental degrees.
• We will have a look at some preliminary information and advise about medical interview preparation and what it entails.

Optional 'Extra'

While the UCAT workshop is a great place to start, proper preparation for the test does require a more consistent practice of UCAT-style questions leading up to the test. Therefore, it would be ideal for you to have access to some UCAT preparation resources post-workshop.

Optional Extra resource: Interview - interview - interview! Passing the admission interview process is the most crucial part of being accepted by a medical faculty. Depending on the university, your interview score will account for 33% to 100% of your total admission mark. Hence, underperforming at the interview will be detrimental, even if you have perfect scores in ATAR and the UCAT. Please consider purchasing, reading, and practicing some interview questions well in advance. The Interview Techniques textbook is a great resource to start this process with.  (Cost $59)
