Students preparing for the Bond University Medical Interview will have the opportunity to attend an intensive six-hour webinar designed to strengthen advanced communication skills and build genuine interview confidence.

The session will be delivered by Luan Williams, Psychological Specialist, Medical Interviews Coach, Advanced Communication Skills Strategist, and Consultant in Gifted and Talented. This comprehensive training is particularly valuable for high-achieving applicants who may feel academically strong but are not yet fully confident in their interview approach. Uncertainty can often affect spoken clarity, logical flow, and rapport with assessors — all critical components of a successful medical interview.

This webinar focuses on helping participants eliminate doubt and transform nervous energy into a structured, powerful answering style that feels natural and authentic. Rather than memorising responses, students will develop practical mental frameworks that allow them to approach questions calmly, logically, and strategically.

Designed to Complement Existing Training

For students who have previously completed the 2-Day Intensive Interview Training Workshop, 1-on-1 Personalised Bond Interview Coaching, or the combined Interview Training Package, this webinar serves as an ideal final refinement tool.

Participants will receive a pre-webinar form to share background information and details of any prior training, allowing the session to be tailored to maximise individual learning outcomes.

Webinar Structure

The six-hour webinar is divided into two core training components, separated by a structured independent preparation period.

Session Part A (3 Hours)

The first session draws inspiration from Bond’s recent online panel interview format (introduced in 2025), along with the university’s historical question styles and interview approach. Participants will engage in guided learning activities before being assigned structured tasks to complete independently during the break.

Independent Preparation Period

A dedicated break allows students time to complete a simulated interview exercise using a criteria-led framework. This period encourages applicants to craft responses in their own authentic style while applying the strategies taught in Part A.

Session Part B (3 Hours)

The final session focuses on reviewing key learning outcomes and elevating participant performance. Students refine their approach to ensure they present with clarity, confidence, and a strong sense of personal value — ready to approach their medical interview with composure and purpose.

Schedule (AEDT):

  • 12:00pm – 3:00pm: Session Part A
  • 3:00pm – 4:00pm: Break and Independent Interview Task
  • 4:00pm – 7:00pm: Session Part B

Optional early departure is available at 6:00pm. The final hour includes advanced, high-level strategies for students wishing to deepen their preparation.

What Participants Will Gain

Medical school interviews — particularly panel-style formats involving direct and written questions — can be challenging to master. This webinar helps students understand the types of questions commonly presented and how to approach each with confidence, structure, and rapport.

A key focus of the program is developing a strong mental model for interview performance. Participants will learn how to:

  • Interpret the deeper purpose behind interview questions
  • Structure answers clearly and concisely
  • Manage timing effectively
  • Incorporate meaningful personal anecdotes
  • Address ethics scenarios using appropriate terminology
  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork without triggering red flags
  • Avoid common pitfalls that weaken otherwise strong applicants

Importantly, the training emphasises authentic expression over rote memorisation. Students are guided to understand what is being assessed and why they have been invited to interview in the first place. When this clarity “clicks,” the interview process becomes significantly more manageable.

Confidence is built through self-awareness, strategic preparation, and the ability to respond flexibly under pressure. With the right mindset and tools, medical interviews can shift from intimidating to engaging and even enjoyable.
