NHBHS UCAT Workshop

Normanhurst Boys High School students will attend this full-day workshop as a group at the school. Trainers from the National Institute of Education will deliver the program.

During the workshop, students will become more familiar with the UCAT and learn how it is used by Australian universities when selecting applicants for undergraduate medical and dental courses.

Trainers will introduce the fundamental strategies and techniques required across the four UCAT subtests.

Please allow a little additional time at the end of the workshop in case the session runs slightly over schedule.

Live Online Follow-Up Session

This live online session is available to NIE students who have completed the UCAT workshop.

During this session, we will:

• Hold further discussions and answer students’ questions about UCAT preparation.
• Explain the application processes used by Australian universities offering undergraduate medical and dental degrees.
• Provide preliminary guidance about medical interview preparation and what the interview process may involve.

Interview Techniques Textbook

Medical interviews are a critical part of the admissions process. Depending on the university, interview performance may account for a substantial proportion of an applicant’s final selection outcome.

Even students with strong ATAR and UCAT results may be unsuccessful if they underperform during the interview. Beginning interview preparation early allows students to develop their communication, reasoning and response skills over time.

The Interview Techniques textbook provides students with a useful introduction to the interview process, along with questions and activities they can begin practising well in advance.
