What is Casper?

The test is divided into two sections. The first is the video response section. In this section, you will be presented with two word-based scenarios and four video-based scenarios. The second section is the typed response section. Here, you will be presented with three word-based scenarios and five video-based scenarios.

Made up of 14 scenarios:

Each video response scenario has two open-ended questions, presented one at a time. Test takers have one minute to record each response. Each typed response scenario has three open-ended questions, presented altogether. Test takers have five minutes total to respond to all three questions.

Webinar brief:

During the workshop we will discuss the expectations of the test, how Curtin might use the results and unpack the questions and outline possible criteria for assessment. We will also work on “ON CAMERA” techniques to be able to showcase your true self while answering the questions. Finally, we will look at the timing of the applicant responses and how to get the most out of the time that you must answer each question. Students will gain valuable insight into effective responses through practice exercises, observation and reflection.

“Casper Test Applicants* are required to sit the Casper Test in the year of application. Applicants must sit the online test on one of the dates provided. Applicants will need to register with Acuity Insights to complete the test. Applicants will be ranked for interview on the basis of their Casper score in conjunction with their ATAR score and UCAT score. Applicants that require special testing conditions or are seeking test preparation materials are encouraged to visit the Acuity Insights’ website for further information. Casper scores are valid only for the next available admissions year. Applicants should only complete the test in the year immediately preceding their planned year of admission. Applicants re-applying for the MBBS in a subsequent year must re-sit the Casper Test.”   (Curtin University Medicine guide 2023)

*Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are not required to sit the CASPER test.
