MMIs can be difficult to master, especially those like Bond University’s medical interview that has more recently involved a variety of formats, including scenarios, videos, roleplays, direct questions, essays booths and more. Each type of new station format requires its own sensible and distinct approach for meeting criteria, and each station format has its own pitfalls. Get your head around the types of booths that come up during the Bond MMI, and how you can take a confident, logical and rapport-driven approach for each station type.

The ’holy grail’ for MMI preparation is for interview applicants is to develop a sound mental model that helps you to understand, prepare for, and respond to MMI questions in a calm and intelligent way. This webinar helps you develop your own pair of powerful ‘MMI lenses’ to help you see through the stations to understand their true meanings and measures. At the same time, we address the easiest ways to show your true colours, manage your timing, insert personal anecdotes, show your dedication, and finally relinquish worries of freezing up, forgetting the question, losing your train of thought, or giving the wrong answer. Learn how to address ethics questions head-on in an appropriate way, using the right terminology and demonstrating your keen understanding of rights and responsibilities. Avoid the biggest pitfalls in leadership and teamwork questions, and most crucially, neatly step around the red flags that are there to reveal inappropriate applicants.

At medical interviews, it’s important to prepare your mind the right way (never learning answers off by rote!) and to turn up on your big day in the best state of mind. And even more importantly, you need to have a clear and strategic understanding of what is expected of you and why you’ve been asked to come in the first place. The moment it all ‘clicks’ for you, the whole interview process becomes instantly easier.

Learn to express yourself authentically while also sharing personal proof, meeting station requirements, and giving that little bit extra that makes you memorable, trustworthy and likable. This two-part webinar takes a formulaic approach to the Bond Medicine MMI, using past stations and past questions from the Bond MMI as learning tools to prepare yourself for your big day.

The webinar has two online components, separated by a self-study period:

Confidence comes with knowing yourself, having the relevant knowledge, understanding what is being measured, and having the confidence that you can reach these requirements with minimal cognitive load and maximum flexibility. Many medical applicants don’t realise how fun medical interviews can be when they are approached with the right attitude and a strategic, meaningful skillset, tailored slightly differently for each station format.

Early Interview Training

Student's Testimonials & Feedback About the Workshop.

Why you should start medical school interview preparation in Year 11?

Every year we meet a lot of students expressing their regret and disappointment for leaving interview preparation until the actual period when the interview offers are made. The big issue with this is that quite often there is simply not enough time for adequate preparation between the time when the interview offers are made and the actual interview date.

The common concern expressed to us by students every year...

"I spent so much time preparing for the UCAT and Year 12 exams, and now that I got a medical interview offer I have very limited time to prepare. What should I do now?  How will I outperform my interview competitors?"

The medical interview is the final stage of assessing and ranking a range of personal competencies as well as student’s ability to undertake studies in the respective medical fields. Interview for undergraduate medical entry is a personal assessment of who the candidate is, what they have to offer and how suitable they will be for the course. Just as with the UCAT, we cannot stress enough that students cannot underestimate the medical interview or take it too lightly. Furthermore, it is a highly competitive forum where the student will be assessed against other candidates who have not only aimed as hard to achieve their goals but are also just as sincere and strong-minded in their desire to be interviewed successfully.

BENEFITS OF AN EARLY INTERVIEW TRAINING

When being interviewed for a medical school, you need to be competitive and stand out from the crowd. You will need to demonstrate psychological maturity and interpersonal characteristic favoured by medical schools. Interviewers will look for someone who can show honesty, integrity, compassion, empathy, and altruism. Furthermore, interviewers will pay attention to you being a respectful, sensitive, and understanding of others. You will need to come across as an individual with strong self-discipline and work ethic, as well as someone who is persistence, resilient, reliable and accountable. Furthermore, through various interview scenario questions, you will need to demonstrate good judgement, critical and analytical skills.

Learning and further development of the above-mentioned attributes takes time and practice. Hence, the earlier you get in the interview mind frame, the more beneficial it will be for you. Other reasons for early interview preparation include:

Certain underlying communication weaknesses, like social anxiety or general nervousness, can take longer than a day, a week or even a month to address and strengthen. So, the earlier you find out about them and how to address these, the better it will be for you.

Thank you so much for the amazing med interview workshop over the past 2 days. It made me a lot more confident in answering the various types of questions. I am also interested in the 1-on-1 training and I was wondering if you can help me organise that as well. S.F.

Hello. I just wanted to give my thanks to the lecturers, Anne, Rebekah and Bary, for today's Interview seminar. I didn't really have the time to say a proper 'thank you for spending their time to help us prepare for the interviews and to gain such deep understanding about a career in medicine' before the session ended. Since I don't have their contacts, it would be fantastic if someone just passed on my thanks to them. Thank you! W.F.

I would like to thank NIE for organising my training with Anne. I had my session today and have learned a lot! I feel so much more confident facing my interview next month. Anne is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, supportive and a very professional trainer. Thank you again. H.S.

Hi Anne, I really don't know how to thank you for everything. The tips and feedback during the interview training I have received and feedback you gave me at the end are invaluable. You have been such great support and thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I hope everything turns out well on the day too and I will let you know how it goes! Thank you so much. (J.M.)

Hi there Luan! I hope you remember me, but I, (T.M.) attended your 4-day AMIET personalised coaching training for Bond University from the 27th of January to the 2nd of February. Since our coaching sessions, I sat the psychometric test and had
my interview for Bond… and yesterday I received an offer to study medicine there! I am absolutely over the moon and above all, I am so grateful to have had you coach me for the testing process. I immediately knew that I had to contact you to tell you the news!

When I first came to see you, I had just been rejected by James Cook University medicine and was the least confident I had been before. I was so nervous about restarting the interview process for university and had not built up any solid foundation of interview techniques or even faith in myself. Beginning the interview preparation sessions was very daunting to me because of this. Even after our first session, I remember feeling so much more at ease and comfortable with making mistakes and working hard to try and develop better interview techniques. By the end of the 4 days, not only did I have a comprehensive understanding of what makes a student worth offering a place in the Bond medical program, I also came out with a new level of confidence and increased self-esteem. Your coaching has made me have so much more faith in myself and I appreciate that you were so supportive throughout the whole process and still provided essential constructive criticism.

I cannot thank you enough for the time and effort you put in to our personalised coaching sessions. My parents have even said that they noticed my confidence had increased a lot since I was coached by you and that is a skill that I would not have rapidly developed otherwise. Medicine has been my dream course and thanks to you I was able to achieve that dream as a high-school leaver. The skills you taught me have already been highly transferable to daily interactions with people and have made me so much more personable. THANK YOU sincerely for guiding me :) Bond, here I come! Warm regards, (T.M.)

Dear Sasha. I thought to share M.T.’s university admission offers with you. She got Medicine interview offers for all universities and she has attended the interviews held before QTAC offers. She got admission offers to UWS (UAC first preferences), Adelaide (SATAC first preference) and UQ (QTAC first preferences). She selected to do Medicine at  UQ as its 30 minutes away from our place. I would like to thank your teachers and you for the interview training. Regards. S.T.

Hi Luan, Hope you're doing well! Just got the offer into Bond Medicine!! I wanted to thank you for all your assistance in the interview preparation. I believe your approach to the training and advice really gave me an edge. Once again really just wanted to thank you for that.

Dear NIE. Hope you are doing well! I received an unbonded offer for Medicine last week and I am emailing to thank you and your amazing team for your outstanding work and for helping me get through this time round - couldn't have done it without your help! Best wishes. N.K.

I would like to sincerely thank Luan, Zobair and Sasha so much for their help in getting my son into medicine at Bond University. The intensive training given by Luan via Skype was excellent and prepared my son really well for the psychometric testing and interview. NIE cares so much about trying to help its students achieve their goals. I would also like to thank Sasha for her kindness, advice and generous support over the training period. I would not hesitate to highly recommend NIE not only for its outstanding training but also for the immense personal support it offers to its students.

Hi Sasha. S.J. really enjoyed his sessions with Rebekah and he sent her a personal thank you message when he got his offer from Bond Uni at the 1st round in early March!!!! Also, Luan's Bond Psychometric test training was nothing less of invaluable. Thanks again for all your help and effort helping my son get into medicine. If I can be of any assistance in recommending NIE please don’t hesitate to ask!!! Best wishes, L.J.

Hi Sasha, I have been meaning to contact you to let you know that (J.L) was offered at a place in Medicine at the University of NSW and started last week. I just enrolled my son (G.L) for your interview workshop as he got an offer for JCU, and also WSU and UNSW. My youngest son will also be enrolling for UCAT with you later this year.

Dear Zobair and Dr Bary, I've made it into UNSW medicine with an unbonded offer :D Thank you so much for helping me get here, I couldn't have achieved my dream without your help! After 2 years of disappointment with my interview results, I felt like my goal of achieving medicine was beyond my reach. However, through your interview training and continues help with Interview practice, I am now officially on my way to becoming a doctor! Thanks again guys for helping me on this tough journey, I truly appreciate all that you've done for me :)

Hello NIE. I am thrilled to let you know that I have been successful at being offered a place for the School of Medicine, James Cook University, QLD. I am so pleased to have been offered my first preference. Thank you very much for all of your help with my interview preparation - it paid off! Best wishes, (S.R.)

Dear Sasha and NIE, I just wanted to let you know that I received an offer for unbonded medicine at the University of Newcastle. Thanks for your help with the interview, it was really valuable. Kind regards, (A.V.)

Hi! I'm (D.L) and I underwent an interview training session with you around 2 months ago. I just wanted to say thanks for the helpful training and advice you have given me which have resulted in my acceptance into the UNSW medical course! I found that your interview workshop session allowed me to find certain points in my communication technique which I could have improved on and gave me an interview experience which prepared me for the real deal. Cheers, (D.L.)

Dear NIE. My son did your interview course and was very happy with it. Regards (J.S.)

Hi Sasha. Thank you for inviting (E.A.) to this course. He returned happy, enthusiastic and motivated. Please advise on any extra relevant training your offer.

Thank you, NIE. Today was exceptional. It was super informative, I feel more confident and the teachers were great!

Fantastic workshop! Wish I attended this program last year. Took university's advise not to attend any interview coaching, and failed miserably. From the first question, I already realised that I was majorly under-performing and it made it difficult to refocus and improve my answers to quite difficult questions. Recommending this program to anyone who will be going for med interview. Cheers to NIE! (L.T.)

The interview workshop which has been provided today was so good and helpful for me, thanks a lot. Also, so impressed as both teachers taught very well and with so much passion. Will advise on the outcome of the interview as offers come out.

Hi. This is (B.G.). I just would like to say that if you got an interview offer and you think you are ready for it, think again and try the med interview workshop NIE offers. I went to the workshop yesterday just to polish-up my skills, just to realise during the day that my skills were pretty poor and required lots of tuning. Thank you NIE for day filled with so much content and fun interactive activates. Both of your interview teachers were very knowledgeable and professional. Thank you to Zac and Dr Bary!

I think the current interview program provided is really good and helpful for the students who will be facing med interview panel soon. (S.P.)

Dear NIE. I would like to say a big 'Thank You' for coaching my daughter for her upcoming medical interview. Alice came home overwhelmed with the amount of information and knowledge she received. Alice has not stopped talking about her day and the teachers. Thank you! (L.A.)

Dear NIE Team. We are happy to inform you that 'S.N' got a medicine offer from Monash. She has planned to take a break this year and will start the course next year at Monash. She had a medicine offer from the University of Queensland as well. Thank you for all your support throughout the year. The UMAT course and the interview help our daughter received from you was an invaluable experience. I will ensure to recommend your services to our school. Thanks again (P.A.)

Hi Sasha. I just spoke to Zobair today to give him the good news that I did make it into UNSW Medicine. Thank you guys for all of the support and training you had given me for both the UMAT and Interview. It is all greatly appreciated. (P.L.)

Hi Sasha, I am just letting you know that 'S.N' was offered a place at Bond last week. The training that you provided really helped her. Thank you so much! Best wishes (E.S.)

Hi NIE. My elder son did your interview course last year and was very-very happy with it. He got into UNSW. Now my younger son completed your UMAT course and got 98th percentile. The Interview offers are not out yet, but we would like to start the interview training early so that we don't miss out later. Please, if you could pre-book 'S.N' into one of your interview training sessions. Thank you. (D.A.)

I have done the interview training workshop with your tutors and it was a great and awesome experience. I strongly recommend you guys to do it with NIE as you can get very important information and training to prepare, don't miss it out!!

Dear Sir/Madam. The interview workshop was great. The intensive style of the program in which we were exposed to the very different interview structures was challenging and a great learning experience. Listening to the feedback for each of the candidates' mock interviews was great for improving my own approach to the interview. While I found the mock interviews quite challenging I thought it would have been nice to have more of these mock interviews with the two teachers as was done in the beginning. However in the time given, the workshop was well structured and very helpful. Regards, (N.K)

To Whom it May Concern. Thank you to NIE for coaching my son today and for giving me a call to provide feedback on how my son is progressing with his interview skills. In short the feedback my son gave me is: Amazing staff and lecturers who were engaging and encouraging. Teachers addressed the hard topics of the interviews throughout the lesson. Lots of one-to-one contact and practice. Excellent medical interview and role playing tactics. Thank You Very Much! (N.L)

I thought the course was challenging and very helpful. I liked the "speed-dating" MMI training, especially as a lower pressure exercise.

Hello. I did the workshop and the one-on-one session of interview training with Zac and Sasha in Sydney, including a mock interview and feedback afterwards. I believe this one session really cemented my interview techniques, gave me confidence and improved my weaknesses immensely! They were tough and tested your resilience - which I found to be challenging but very useful and beneficial as I encountered many interviewers in my MMI that were similarly tough or who didn't seem very positive. The questions they asked were spot on, their University specific style of questioning was great in preparing us for the challenges of each different university's interviews and the feedback they offered after the mock interview was very constructive and helpful. It was overall a very helpful training session - one that I believed pushed my interview skills to the maxi um and led me to being successful in getting into medicine at the university I wanted! My sister also went to interview training with them and she had similar positive feedback, and she also gained a place into her uni of choice. So I cannot stress enough how helpful these two have been for me and my sister - if any future students do sufficient preparation prior to the interview training and are driven to do med I am sure that Zobair and Sasha will help them to achieve their dreams just like us. Thank you Zac and Sasha! Regards (H.H.)

Hi NIE. Thank you for providing such great training for my upcoming interview! My confidence went from zero to 100. The formulation of ideas into words was a great help for and also the peer marking gave great insight. I also loved the intense MMI practice, which was almost too brutal, but extremely helpful. My recomemndation to those who is goign for an inetrview, if you want to get an insight into real med inetrview and role-playing style question then, these guys really know what they are doing.

I just wanted to leave this review, as the trainers at NIE are very helpful. I did interview trainig class today, and the practical side of being able to have the opportunity to put our newly learned skills to the test was very helpful, despite the challenging setting created by the interviewers. Very satisfied, thank you!

I found the workshop extremely beneficial. I wish I have done it last year when I received an interview offer the first time. Now I see where I have gone wrong with most of my answers in my interview last year. Your workshop today gave me all the knowledge and strategies to formulate much better responses, and now I feel in control for my upcoming JCU interview. Last year I felt very nervous, but after today I feel confident and actually quite excited knowing that my performance will be 1000% better than last time. I also found your interview preparation book to be a very good and helpful resource. Do I have any suggestions for your workshop? - No, there's nothing that could have been improved; it was the best workshop ever!! Thank you NIE! I will you keep you posted once the offers come out.

I really liked how students were randomly called to the front for a mock interview in front of the rest of the class. It was really stressful and made me sweat, but it was an amazing experience and I learned a lot from it. Also, both presenters having health and medical backgrounds was great as for the first time I had a chance to have a really good chat to an actual GP, not as a patient. So I learned a lot about the career itself.

I went to a pre-medicine interviews workshop, which was focused on how to ace the Medical Interview and much more. It took up my entire day, but it was well worth it, and money well spent! As promised prior to my enrolment, the group was small and I received lots of one-on-one time with both of the teachers. During the course of the day, I learned many invaluable facts which I will definitely be applying during my interview performance. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who is preparing for the interview. Thank you NIE for your ongoing support! (T.S.)

Great medical school oral assessement training. Really engaging, good, interesting and fun right from the start. The session was very harsh and forthright but needed and highly commended. Very friendly, highly-kbolwedgebal, experienced and approachable presenters.

I completed interview training workshop with NIE. This was a really helpful workshop, where I gained a lot of experience and knowledge. Having to go through scenarios on the spot and being thrown in an uncomfortable situation while being watched by peers was scary, but super helpful. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for a great workshop. The hot seat was intimidating but very valuable. Engaging and creative program. I had a lot of fun and learnt a lot. Thanks

Really good and engaging course, which I enjoyed every minute of. The insight into a career as a medical practitioner by Dr. Bary was really eye-opening for me as I must admit, I was somewhat delusional about the daily commitments required of a doctor.

I really enjoyed this course! I think the interactive nature was the most beneficial aspect for me. I found the day challenging when put on the spot. But it was great being pushed past the comfort zone. I really gained a lot from this experience.

I had a great time and thought both presenters were very engaging and knowledgable. Getting picked and put on the spot helped me ease my anxiety a lot, so I do not feel nervous about my interview at all anymore. Thank you Dr. Bary for your great insight.

Dear NIE Team. We are happy to inform you that 'S.N' got a medicine offer from Monash. She has planned to take a break this year and will start the course next year at Monash. She had a medicine offer from University of Queensland as well. Thank you for all your support throughout the year. The UMAT course and the interview help our daughter received from you was an invaluable experience. I will ensure to recommend your services at our school.

Thank you. (D.A.)

I have done the interview training workshop with your tutors and it was great and awesome experience. I strongly recommend you guys to do it with NIE as you can get very important information and training to prepare , don't miss it out!!
