Casper is particularly important for students applying for **Curtin University Medicine**. Curtin Medicine applicants may need to meet several admission requirements, including achieving a competitive ATAR, completing the UCAT ANZ and Casper Test, and attending an interview if invited. Casper is an open-response situational judgement test completed online. It presents applicants with a series of realistic interpersonal, professional and ethical situations and asks them to explain how they would respond. The standard Casper Test currently contains **11 scenarios** divided into two sections: - **Four video-response scenarios**, where applicants record their answers on camera. - **Seven typed-response scenarios**, where applicants type their answers directly into the testing portal. The test is completed under strict time limits and generally takes approximately 65 to 85 minutes, including optional breaks. Because applicants must analyse each situation and communicate their reasoning quickly, Casper requires concentration, sound judgement, clear communication and effective time management. ## What Does the Casper Test Assess? Casper is not primarily a test of academic knowledge. Instead, it assesses how applicants approach complex situations involving other people, competing priorities and professional responsibilities. Casper scenarios may assess qualities such as: - Communication - Empathy - Ethical reasoning - Professionalism - Collaboration and teamwork - Problem-solving - Equity and fairness - Resilience and adaptability - Self-awareness Strong responses generally demonstrate an ability to consider different perspectives, identify the central issue, avoid unsupported assumptions and propose a practical and proportionate course of action. ## Casper Test Preparation for Curtin Medicine For many NIE students, the main reason for completing Casper is their application to **Curtin University Medicine**. A strong academic result alone may not be sufficient for entry, as applicants may also be assessed through admission tests and an interview. Casper preparation can help Curtin Medicine applicants become more familiar with the test format and develop a structured approach to ethical, interpersonal and professional scenarios. It can also help students communicate their reasoning more clearly in both typed and recorded responses. Preparation should not involve memorising scripted answers. Although Casper does not require applicants to memorise academic content, students can prepare by becoming familiar with the assessment format and practising how to respond clearly under time pressure. Each two-hour session can be adapted to the student’s intended university course, including **Curtin Medicine, Veterinary Science, Physiotherapy** and other programs requiring Casper.
