Printed fresh every year, and containing all new questions and updated information, there are 8 books in all: (Books 1,2,3,5,6,7 are hardcopy) Section 1, Section 2, Section 3, Starter Pack, Time Trial Tests, Final Trial Test, Interview Techniques, and the all-new Update Pack. These hard-copy books and tests set you in the right mode for the exam, which is not digitally administered but taken sitting at a desk with a booklet and pencil.

To get you underway immediately, the starter pack (book 4) will be emailed out to you directly in a printable pdf format. Books: 1 logical reasoning, 2 understanding people, 3 non verbal reasoning, 5 time trial tests and 7 interview techniques (all hard copy) will arrive in the mail a few days after applying, an update pack (book 8) will follow in April, and the UMAT trial paper (book 6) will be administered at your chosen one day workshop (or sent out to you if you are doing the DLP). Mailing costs within Australia are covered by NIE.

The 'Starter Pack' contains every thing you will need to get started: all the info and strategies to understand, prepare for and succeed during such a 'highly speeded psychometric exam'. It includes chapters on the anatomy of the UMAT, specific strategies, developing the required reading skills, advice on study, applications and UMAT Prep and numerous practice questions from all sections.

There are books for each section which cover what each section is, why it is there, what is expected of you, how you should approach and answer each question, a full teaching syllabus, strategies for maximising your score, worked examples and practice questions.

Please note: the NIE course material is not accessed on line. With online material you will have no ownership, limited access and an experience not true or realistic of a paper-based exam like the UMAT.
